"Flower Flinging" Comes To Howrse!

Howrse has a new Spring promotion- Flower Flinging! Basically, all the UFOs have been replaced with flowers, (which I personally think is cool because they move slower and I can catch them without accidentally clicking the advertisement) and when you click on one it wins you something- the usual things, such as Aging Points, a couple hundred Equus, basic tack and horse shoes, turnips and apples, and mashes. But the best part is that when you catch one, you get a double of it, to "fling" to one of your friends! You can only get up to 15 flowers in a week, and the prizes go as follows:


  • The 10 best flower flingers will get a free Nyx Pack
  • The next 40 will win a Horn Of Plenty
  • The following 50 will get 50 000 Equus
  • And starting from the 101th player, you could be lucky and win a Pandora's Box


I am pretty sure I won't win anything but it's still fun!

A New Promotion- Cards Are Back!

We know that Howrse used to have promotions that involved winning cards but now they have a new one- "The Art Card Promotion". Basically you find some cards that win you stuff that is similar to the stuff you get in UFOs, although some will give you Harmony packs or even Hera Packs!
The other cards you will use to complete puzzles, which will in turn give you a prize. Here is the puzzle/prize directory:

Sculpture Puzzle - Achilles' Heel
Drawing Puzzle - Harmony Pack
Music Puzzle - 5x Diamonds
Painting Puzzle - Titan's Challenge
Theater Puzzle - Morpheus' Arms
Literature Puzzle - Papryus' Privlidge (gives you a Plutos Parchment every day for 20 days if you logged on the previous day)
Cinema Puzzle - The Fifth Element!!! ;)

If you complete these you'll get one of the Wind Devines, Apeliotes.
I opened my three cards as soon as I logged on - I got 50 Turnips, 10 Diamonds, and an Apollo's Lyre.

I hope I can win that Devine!

EDIT: I HAVE BEEN TRYING TO WIN MORE CARDS BY WINNING COMPETITIONS BUT WHEN I WIN THEM I NEVER GET THE CARDS.... IF YOU'RE HAVING THIS ISSUE THEM COMMENT OR PM ME!

The Sweet Treats Workshop- a New Win-A-Divine-Promotion!

A little like to an earlier promo involving collecting ingredients to build potions to get rewards, where you built 30 of them and then could make one more to get a Wind Divine, we now have the Sweet Treats Workshop, where we "bake" 30 recipes, to win things like Poseidon's Packs, Nyx Packs, Equus, Fertility Wands, 5th Elements, and more..... And if you get all 30 cakes done in time you'll be able to bake a 31st one and "bale" the newest Gemstone Divine, called Quartz.

How do you get the ingreidents?

  • Watching a video
  • Remove the Horn from your Unicorns
  • Remove the Wings from your Pegasus
  • Find food coloring every time you open a Horn Of Plenty
  • Find the booster and the other ingredients:

    • with the UFOs
    • when your horses wake up on their birthdays (maximum 4 per day)
    • by taking part in competitions (maximum 4 per day)
    • when you find a tub of grease with your horses (maximum 3 per day)
    • in Flash sales
    • during your first connection of the day
    • in the Horns Of Plenty (2 ingredients per Horn of Plenty)

How to bake the recipes?

  • Get the ingredients
  • Add them to the batter
  • Put it in the oven
  • Wait for it to bake or use a booster to make it reduce by two hours


I couldn't keep up with the top pass buyers in the card promo and I didn't get the Wind Divine.... I hope I can manage to get past the Pass Buyers with HoPs and have a chance at Quartz! (I am not saying I resent Pass Buyers- they have as much a right as any to spend real money on pixels if they want to, it's just that I think there's no point in it.)

Deleting Your Game- It does NOT delete your horses at first!

So most people seem to think that if you put your horses up for sale and then delete your account you also delete the horses. I have tried and tried to explain to them that this isn't so but it hasn't worked. So I am going to try to explain something here in clearer terms.The only thing "deleted" is your personal page. if will say "this person is no longer on Howrse" if you attempt to access it. But everything else related to the player stays for 5 days and THEN is deleted if the player doesn't log in during that time and cancel the deletion. In fact your page is not deleted. It is only hidden- if you log in it will re appear.

So here is a message posted in chrissyh's "stop bullying" topic in her forum:
It was posted by juliamon who has 121 days on the game and Snowy Dawn Stables is her EC.

So I went to her page to congratulate her, but this was showed up when I clicked on her username:

Now, you see their page is gone. Yet their details (user, karma, EC, days seniority, etc) have not. Thus her page is the only thing missing. Then nothing connected to her account is gone yet. Just to show you though, I next went to her EC. The page is still up as you can see:

I was even able to post in the Guestbook:
Plus the center itself still shows up when you search for it, thus proving the game still counts it as "open".
In fact I was even able to board my horse Bayfire in Snowy Dawn Stables:
So as you can see everything of a player's is not always deleted- their page is hidden, but everything else is there until 5 days after they deleted it if they didn't log in during that time period.
After the five days (I think the player in question left on either the 3rd or 4th of this month, June 2013) I will try to visit all these paged and see what happens, and post them up here. I will also see what it says happened to Bayfire's boarding (if it runs out before then I will re-board). Check back!

Dramatic Changes For Howrse!

But are they for good or bad? Comment to let me know what you think!

The changes?
They took away the Sea Horse and "merged" it with the Eolus' Wind
They added a "Like" button to the Public  forums
They removed the BMI, Apollo's Lyre. Now you can only get them by spending 6 passes for a Nyx Pack or in an exchange.

What change do I like?
The "Like" button- that came in the Ideas forum, I voted for that, and I am glad they added it! I love it!

What change don't I like?
The loss of the Apollo's Lyre. I only got Apollo's Lyres when I got passes from pass horses. I cannot see wasting six hard earned passes on a Nyx pack to change how my horse looks when I could buy two Morpheus' Arms or Philosopher's Stones or Poseidon's Pack to change how my horse performs with that many passes. They are continually removing BMIs, the Black Market is starting to look a little empty now. I hope they bring in more to fill it in (That don't cost a ton of passes) but I still will miss the ability to customize my horse's name. Guess I'm reduced to нσяѕє иαмє ѕумвσℓѕ. 
What change am I unsure about?
The Sea Horse/Eolus' Wind thing. It has pros and cons. 
Its pros: It makes all horses with sea horses worth more because they have more bonuses. It makes the E. Wind worth more in Item exchanges even though the price of it didn't change, now you could reasonably trade it for a two pass item instead of a one pass item.
Its cons: It means that only pass buyers can really buy bonuses because you need passes to convert them into diamonds to get 3 diamonds, because we lost the cheapest bonus, now we're up to needing 3 diamonds for the cheapest one. It also means that people with Pegasus Accounts can take there horses a little higher than those without because they get 4 skill bonuses on all their horses for free.

The Vegetable Garden

Yet another promo and another Divine to be won, and more BMIs to worry about growing...

The Vegetable Garden is where you grow different seeds so that produce different BMIs, Equus, Diamonds, Bonuses, Tack, Treats, (apples, turnips etc) and more. There are Tomatos, Corn, Beans, and other seeds, but most importantly Pumpkin Seeds- which you will eventually be able to grow to get the new Wind Divine, Skeiron 

How to plant the seeds? Good question. Like:

  • Sow your seeds
  • Water your Vegetables (once every 12 hours)
  • Watch your vegetables grow every day you connect for the first time
  • Fertilize with fertilizer 


And that's it- eventually you'll unlock the Pumpkin seed which will "grow" the wind Divine. 
Oh, and once again you win more stuff (seeds and fertilizer ) in Horns Of Plenty so it looks pretty... dim for me.... again...;-)

You can complete 2 missions per day that "give" you something more for the contest. You can also send 15 gallons of water for watering plants with to a friend for 1000e.

The Puzzle

Welcome to the puzzle, as another promotion kicks off- the fourth in a row...

So, there are 12 different puzzles. They each take more pieces than the last one, with the first requiring only two and the 12th requiring 24.
Each puzzle yields something different upon completion:

Puzzle One: 2 Aging Points, 1 Daphne's Laurels, 1 Medusa's Blood
Puzzle Two: 1000 Equus, 10% energy for all horses, 1 Pandora's Box
Puzzle Three: Ow's Congratulations, 30 Apples, 1 Black Orchid
Puzzle Four: 5 Caloric Mashes, 1 Croesus' Fortune, 1 Helios' Ray
Puzzle Five: 5 Aging Pints, 1 Turnip, 1 Water Of Youth
Puzzle Six: 15 Energy Mashes, 100 Apples, 1 Golden Spurs


You get the pieces by grooming, opening HoPs, UFOs, winning comps, when you first log on and by watching a video.

Howrse changes AGAIN!...

Howrse seems determined to confuse all of us older players beyond help.
First my horses with sea-horses suddenly had Eolus' Winds instead and lost the sea horses and they "forgot to mention that" in a blog post for several days, leaving me and several other players to wonder.
Now my horses have lost the Eolus' Winds, which I had just adjusted to, and have Whips, and Bell Boots, and pretty soon they're likely to have Santa hats and who knows what else.
Okay, all vents and sarcasm aside: Howrse just redid the whole bonuses thing again as apparently they can't decide what they like better. The new bonus system is as follows:

Eolus' Wind just turned into the Whip
Golden Spurs are now just Spurs
Boreas' Lunge is now just the Lunge
Daphne's Laurels are now... Bell Boots. (Interesting name, is it not?)

The prices are still the same in the stores but basically here's what I think is happened: Howrse changed all the bonuses in the stores to match those which you can find in the boxes. Then they apparently either got rid of the Tub Of Grease or left it alone and had to make a n we bonus to go along with it, the Bell Boots. I don't quite follow the point here but, this is the way they are operating...

The Wandering Horses Are Back!

Older players will remember the Wandering Horses promo, where you complete the missions until you have 100 points and then you get the horse in question for 5 days, along with three prizes.
The Wandering Horses you got in the end will be displayed in a special box on your page.

The way it works? You do what it says to do on the "card" in question on the Promo page, and each time you do it earns you points. When you get the horse you get prizes, and after 5 days you move on. You can work on several Wandering Horses at once.

Some of these goals are impossible for non pass buyers like me and many other players but I think the free BMIs and having what you got displayed on your page as a badge of honor are quite enough- don't you agree? :)

SarahKat, one of the first Admins, is leaving Howrse!

SarahKat registered 20007-05-02 and will be leaving the game as an Administrator. Tomorrow, August 1st 2013, will be her last day as an Admin.
In case you can't read the small text in the screen shot, SarahKat's message reads:
"Hello Everyone!

I have been on Howrse pretty much since the site opened. I have been a moderator and now and Admin for the last 5 years. I have loved the game and working here has been such a wonderful experience. I have met so many wonderful people from all walks of life. You have taught me so much, not just about yourselves but about myself.

All that has made this decision all the more difficult to make.
I will be leaving Howrse as an Admin. Tomorrow will be my last day.

It is a decision that I had to make for my family. The real SarahKat is getting older and needs her Mom more and more. I will stick around here with this account, but I won't have time for more then logging in and caring for a horse or two."
The topic she posted in the top of the Game Play forum has already reached 12 pages, and it was only posted a couple of hours ago. Her post has 83 likes already and so many players are bidding her a "fond farewell" in it.

The Horse Parade!

Yet another promo....
I won't make a comment. ;)

The horse parade does, however, sound like fun- of course I have no hope of getting the latest Gemstone Divine horse as a non pass buyer, but for those who buy passes theirs will be an easy Divine, it appears.

This is how it works:

You start with Magic, a stallion of some breed whose picture I don't recognize. Mrs. Majowska is there to guide you through the process of putting tack on your horse.... like this:
First she instructs you to put a saddle on him, so I did:
She said I should equip him with more tack, so I did... starting with a bridle and saddle cloth:
.....Around this point, my personal opinion was that Poor Magic started to look like a rabbit:
Then I added the bandages and rubber bandages, and Magic was ready to be judged:
When Magic was judged they thought he was "great" and I got 30 points.
Then rabbit-ears Magic goes on his way and we are given 2 new horses by 2 other admirers (admirers.... of what?) who are named Jack and Amber. Jack is a horse. Amber is a Divine, a new Gemstone Divine. If you find all seven pieces of Golden Tack before Amber leaves in 5 days, you'll get to keep him. I have no clue what Amber does yet, because I can't find his link... when I do I'll update this.

The ways to get the tack:

  • When you first log in
  • When you win a comp (limit 1 per day)
  • When you find a ToG with your horse in a box (limit one per day)
  • In the flash sales (unless you're a millionaire that's rather expensive).

Howrse Adds More New Features.... Again....

Howrse is at it again. More new things!

I'll start with the bad news (or what I personally think t be so anyway). Howrse has added their own forum rules to each player's EC forum. The bad news is we're not allowed to debate things anymore, the good news is that three of the rules - chat speak, advertising, and bumping - are still allowed in your forum regardless of the attached rules.

I was surprised by the banning of almost everything in my forum this morning when I went there so I PMed Dr. Zig (mod) and here is our conversation:
My Message To Dr. Zig:

Hello there!

I was curious; I noticed today that all my forum topics have totally new rules that I've never seen before attached to them in my private EC forum. I am not disputing them, but I would like to know where they might have come from? They didn't appear until today and they are not listed in the Ausgust's New Features change log thing.
I also didn't know it was against the rules to advertise in your own forum for your own things until today!  If I'd known that before I wouldn't have broken that rule buy having a "my horses for sale" section in my forum, but I must say it was never made clear in any of public rules that I wasn't allowed to and in the game play forums everyone always said I could.
I also saw that it was now against the rules to use chat speak- I don't want to break any rules, so I just want to ask, are common things like lol, rofl, brb, and the common BMI abbreviattions still allowed? At least in my own forum?

Dr. Zig's Response To Me:

Some new features have been added to the game today, and Ow has all the details in the Events Forum. 

The same forum rules have been posted at the top of every forum on the game, but bumping, chatspeak, and advertising are allowed in your EC forum.
So after checking things out, there really is only that one downside out of the whole thing that personally can see; I think, to be honest, that this update was pretty awesome. Of course feel free to let me know what you think in the comments below! ;)

Now for the even better news:

The events forum has been remodeled and the other public forums will be soon too. We can only hope that it all comes to the EC forums as well.

  • Now we can quote other's posts
  • Now we can star a thread we like and wish to keep track of
  • On top of having that "like" feature, all this makes the forums quite like a real online discussion board!
  • When you post it looks like your avatar is talking. =]
  • The faces have been "remodeled"
  • You can't quote a post with a quote in it, but you can select the text the person wrote below the quote and then hit the quote button to quote their post regardless of the quote THEY have in THEIR post.

In this linked topic on the events forum everyone's going nuts with the nice new features. We all love it and the quote has brought more conversation to the forums!

Sorry for the delay guys... let me explain..... I know I am behind on many TBH updates.
There have been some family emergencies and I have been away from internet and stuff a little while and we bought a house and in general are real busy.
Plus now I am back and have time but I have the flu kinda bad. I am aware this may sound selfish, but to be honest, I just don't have the patience or energy to do anything right now. I can't really focus on it, and I'm too tired and miserable feeling to be honest. ;) But when my life is back to normal and I don't feel so yucky I will update everything and start back in tweeting and posting and stuff again!
I am still answering emails and PMs and sometimes tweets but have some patience with me guys, it may be a little bit. ;)
I'm not logging on to any accounts but the IN one for a few days, sorry.
The next e newsletter may be a little late but I will get on it soon!

The Pinatas!

Sorry that this is about a week late TBHers! I was away from the internet on vacation. ;) Not that I really needed it, lol.

The latest promo is the Pinatas. This is how it works- you have a pinata and every time you click it get points, or two points depending on how far you are, and when you get the top achievement level of points the pinata is broken and you win was in it.

So far we have had a Cactus, a rhinoceros, a dragon and 2 others that I can't remember, lol. Nothing great yet, simple prizes, bonuses and turnips and mashes and apples and such. But it's all still something! And if we break open all 20 we will win the Divine, Euronotous. He's a new Wind Divine. His powers are, that he may be ridden over mountains to increase his wind strength and over oceans to increase his skills. If you create a storm with him you will win a P. stone or a diamond.

If anyone needs friends to help them out with the promo feel free to ad thewarrenranch on the IN server! I will ALWAYS click on ALL the pinata helps requests it takes and I don't care how much time that requires. ;) Clicking on mine while you're at it would be greatly appreciated and will win you a page read (If I haven't already) and a congrats and Forum Visit (if you have one).

A TBH Glitch!

On this page is layout ordering forum. When I built this page it had a forum with an email box. Now that box it GONE. I was not aware that it had glitched and not saved and unfortunately I did not discover this malfunction with was likely a code issue that was my fault anyway, had occurred until two days ago when I got an order for a layout! I have an issue though. I have NO WAY of contacting the owner of the layout! Because the forum had no space to gather their contact information. I don't have their username or email or IP or anything so I'm a little lost here.

The Time Travel Cards

Another promo, this time following in the footsteps of the previous Art Cards and all the other card promos that we've had.

In the Time Travel cards there are 7 puzzles which may be solved once you have found all the cards for it. There is also a collection of cards you may collect that will give you various gifts, such as BMIs, EC SMIs, Tack, APs, Equus, Diamonds, etc.

The following puzzled will, if completed, gift you the following things:

Changes To The Diamonds! (Yes, more changes!)

Here goes Howrse again, and this time they're after the Howrse economy....

Howrse is changing the diamonds, to "avoid multiplying of the different game currencies and to improve the value of the divine horses that offer diamonds", and to, it seems, complicate the non-pass buyer's world further.
Soon, the following will occur:

  • Competition Bonuses (spurs, lunge, bell boots, etc) will be sold for Equus (we can only hope for a reasonable price)
  • The gifts for the Grand Prix will go from diamonds for 2nd and 3rd and a pass for 1st to passes for all three places
  • Diamonds will be removed from all rewards. (HoPs, Objectives... etc) Howrse assures us the prizes will be replaced
  • Partner Offers (when you buy passes) will win you free passes instead of free diamonds
  • It will NOT be possible any longer to change passes into diamonds
  • You will still be able to spend diamonds in the Black Market for 1 pass items

 From now on the only way to get diamonds is if you own a divine that gifts them to you.

My opinion? I'll be happy to give it:

The only nice thing I see here is that those who don't have a diamond rewarding divine (the gemstone divines are the only ones) will, if they have less than ten diamonds, will be given enough so that they have 10. Because the only thing you can do with them now is boost the Solar System divine's skills or use ten as a pass in the black market. Nice of them isn't it?

But I don't think Howrse thought this through. First of all, what about the Solar System Divines? They come with with useless skills. The only way to raise them to a competition level is with, guess what, diamonds! But unless you have an amazing wealth of Gemstone Divines (because they stop giving you diamonds at 3500 years old which comes pretty fast) of different ages, that's virtually impossible.

Now don't get me wrong. I am not a quieter and I don't side with those who complain because stuff isn't easy peasy and handed to them on a silver platter. But I do think it shouldn't be next to impossible for us to something.
I think less new divines released will help the value of the divines and the return of the Sleipner's invoking would help too. Not the removal of most access to diamonds.

It seems to me that this is another slight jab at non pass buyers, who unless they have lots of divines, can't get items from the black market by using diamonds.

I'm far from thrilled with the change but as with all the changes, I will adapt. ;)

Hey TBHers!

TBH hit an all-time record a few days ago! When the stats came in today I found out that we'd had a sudden skyrocket in views!

The Magic Ride

Howrse's Christmas Promo is in full swing!
In The Magic Ride, you have a pawn on the game board and by default every 12 hours get to roll the dice and move your pawn on the board.
Depending on where you land, you can win BMIs and tack, Equus and privileges, etc etc.
The point of the game is to make it to the other side of the board, and get through the magic door to make it to the next board. Once you complete board number six, you will win the Divine, Opal. I'm not certain, but Opal seems to be a Gemstone Divine- he has the same functions as those, although, he doesn't seem to be labeled as such anywhere.
Sometimes you receive a challenge from Ow when you land on a square. The first challenge I received was

Groom a Horse- Reward: Roll the dice every 8 hours instead of twelve

I'll edit this post and tweet it out every time I get a new challenge if I remember anyway lol)

You have a Christmas tree under which gifts can be placed by your friends, and when Christmas comes you can open them all!
